BeoVision 3-32
(2001-2006)

Description
The BeoVision 3-32 expanded the Beovision table model range into larger widescreen tube sizes. Previously the conventionally proportioned 28” screen of the MX 7000 had been the largest available in this range but as larger screen sizes became fashionable it became necessary for B&O to react to demand. The BeoVision 3-32 was based on the BeoVision Avant models and used the same tube and a slightly simplified version of the chassis. Smaller loudspeakers were used, these were mounted at the sides of the screen and faced slightly outwards. The loudspeaker cloth, which could easily be changed, stretched right around the screen and was available in a choice of colours. The contrast screen did not have an anti-reflective coating as standard but this was available as an option. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
The styling was novel, effectively balancing a large screen on a small plinth. Much of the lower section was empty, the sound amplifier and mains filter were located there but the main chassis was mounted much further back. The styling was attractive from the front but less so from the back, a confusion of curves and angles made it look like a large conventional television resting on a small plastic waste bin. An attractive stand was offered that was only slightly wider than the base of the set which had special shelves to house a BeoCord V 8000 video cassette recorder and a DVD 1 DVD player. This formed a complete and well specified video system, although some traditional B&O refinements such as picture in picture could not be included. Text copyright © Beocentral.
