Description

Though now a largely forgotten model the Beovision 3000 was an important and interesting set whose influence would be visible in the Beovision range for years to come. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.

Fitted with a 20” “20AX” tube and the 35XX chassis (similar to that used in the Beovision 3502), this set was the smallest colour Beovision available at the time. Compared to sets made only 10 years earlier it was remarkably compact, having a modest frontal area and a remarkably slim back. Technically these models followed the pattern set by the other sets in this series and were therefore stable, reliable, cool running and capable of excellent results. Text copyright © Beocentral. Of particular interest was the cabinet. The styling is instantly recognisable as it was copied almost unaltered for the 33XX and 77XX series models which were the top selling models throughout the 1980s. There were differences though, notably that the channel selector pushbuttons and plastic loudspeaker grille were of the type fitted to the other sets in the 35XX range and that the polished metal trim-band around the front of the cabinet was made from a single piece (later it would be formed in three separate sections). Despite the different chassis, the shape of the cabinet back was hardly altered at all between the Beovision 3000 and the later models. Text copyright © Beocentral. The Beovision 3000 is best seen as a stop-gap model between the end of the 20AX-based sets and the new 33XX range. Its replacement would be the Beovision 5000. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
