BeoVision 4-37
(2004-2006) 37” plasma monitor
Description
The BeoVision 4-37 was a 37” plasma display monitor intended for use with the BeoSystem 2 A/V unit. When combined with up to six BeoLab active loudspeakers these units formed a complete television system. On its own, the BeoVision 4-37 was simply a monitor, lacking a tuner, audio system and loudspeakers. Such a format was popular in the early years of flat panel TV but soon became obsolete as manufacturers succeeded in fitting all the components required for self-contained operation within one slim cabinet. The BeoVision 4-37 itself represented a bit of “creative failure” for B&O: from the “me-too” plasma panel styling (a thin frame around big black rectangle) to the technology, which was bought in from Panasonic. The only B&O input of any value seemed to be that the trim surrounding the screen could be ordered in a choice of colours to match other B&O equipment. Text copyright © Beocentral.
