BeoVision Avant 28 RF
(2001) 28” widescreen television, integrated VHS video recorder, Masterlink, 2x39W

Description
The BeoVision Avant 28 RF ("Real Flat”) featured a new type of picture tube that had a genuinely flat face. Fitting this to the Avant, which had by this stage graduated to the top of the Beovision range, was a logical thing to do, and the shape of the new screen allowed the set to be restyled and brought right up to date. The plastic section around the screen was the part that received the attention. The “bow” that had been present was now removed, and the glass plate that had been recessed was now made to stand proud and covered the whole front of the screen section, making the set appear glass rather than plastic fronted. The restyle was very successful and helped the set to appear fresh and modern, despite the appearance on the market of the various types of “flat panel” display TVs. Text copyright © Beocentral. Inside, a new chassis was introduced. This was visually very similar to the original BeoVision Avant, though there were many changes. The most noticeable of these was that the audio amplifiers had been redesigned, and were now considerably smaller and arguably less powerful than they had been before. Text copyright © Beocentral.
