Beovox 1200

(1971) 2-way loudspeaker, 15W

Type number: 6235

Description

The Beovox 1200 loudspeaker of this series (there had been a completely different model bearing the same designation very recently before) was designed specifically to be part of B&O’s first complete component music system, Beosystem 1200. To match the other units, Beovox 1200 could be ordered in teak, rosewood or white, and had a silver metal grille perforated with tiny holes. Text copyright © Beocentral. A 6.5” SEAS woofer and a 2.5” cone tweeter were fitted, and while the sound was a little dull and lifeless with a conventional amplifier, the strong “loudness” characteristic of the Beomaster 1200 meant that results were quite reasonable when the two were used together. Some Beovox 1200s with the same type number (6235) were built to a three-way pattern, the drive units being a 7” woofer, a dome midrange and a 2” cone tweeter. Text copyright © Beocentral. When the Beomaster 1200 was replaced by the Beomaster 1001, the Beovox 1200 was re-styled and re-named as the Beovox 1001. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
