Beovox P 30
(1976-1983) Panel loudspeaker, two way, 30W

Description
Beovox P 30 was the smallest of the “P” series wall mounted Uniphase loudspeakers. Intended for use with receivers such as the Beomaster 1900, the slim cabinets could be hung either vertically or horizontally, there being 6 recesses on the back to engage with the wall fixings. Beovox P 30 used the same drive units and offered similar performance to the Beovox S 30. The drivers were a 6½" Philips woofer with a plain paper cone and rubber roll edge, and a SEAS dome tweeter, fitted in an unvented pressure chamber cabinet. The cabinet front and rear panels, consistent with Uniphase technique, were made of resin and of an angled profile. The angled theme extended to the grille, giving the Beovox P 30 a distinctive, and obviously B&O, appearance. Connection was by a recessed DIN socket at the rear. Despite the use of resin for the front and rear panels, the bracing bar, fitted between the front and back just above the woofer and intended to reduce cabinet colouration, was made of wood!
When the Beovox P 30 (and larger Beovox P 45) was withdrawn from the range, B&O did not produce any wall hanging panel loudspeakers for some time. They reappeared at the end of the 1980s with the Beovox 3000. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
