Stereo Spread Unit
Description
This accessory for the Beolab 5000 amplifier added two functions. The first was to provide an adjustment to blend the two channels together to adjust the “width” of the stereo image. The second, which was rather more useful, was to provide a headphone socket. The latter was absent from the amplifier itself, and its addition was not a trivial matter due to the anti-phase manner in which the output amplifiers of the Beolab 5000 worked. By the use of a special small transformer in the Stereo Spread Unit the lack of this small but important item was rectified. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
