Description

A development of the Beogram 1800 for use with Beosystem 5000. The most obvious changes were made to the cabinet, which was restyled to match the other 5000 system components. As with the 1800, the “start/stop” function could be operated without opening the lid by pressing the right hand end of the aluminium trim on the front of the machine. Additionally, pressing the left hand end operated a magnetic catch and allowed the lid to open. As the other 5000 units had an “open” function in this position this maintained the continuity nicely, though this was hardly the most practical of the changes made to this model. To go with this, a nicer lid than that fitted to the 1800 was used. This had a light inside, just like the one in the Beocenter 7700. Text copyright © Beocentral. The Beogram 5000 had a “repeat” key and indicator, which the 1800 did not. This could be used to make the Beogram 5000 repeat the record up to seven times. The indicator would flash during the last playing. Datalink was also fitted, and worked in both directions. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.

Beogram 5000 was replaced in its role as the turntable for Beosystem 5000 by the tangential tracking Beogram 5005. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
